The Zonnebloem Shiraz 2022 captivates with its deep garnet hue, exuding an enticing bouquet of classic spices, black pepper, lavender, and rich dark berry fruit. On the palate, it offers beautifully juicy notes of ripe plums, culminating in a spicy-floral finish that lingers delightfully. This wonderfully nuanced Shiraz displays a medium body with dark fruit, aromatic mint, and firm tannins, embodying a traditionally dry style.
The grapes from various vineyards were vinified separately. Each tank underwent an extended cold soak of 3 to 5 days, followed by fermentation at controlled temperatures of 26°C. After 10 to 12 days of fermentation, the wine was pressed off the skins and underwent malolactic fermentation in barrels. It then matured in a mix of new and second-fill French oak barrels.
