The Zorgvliet Cabernet Franc captivates with an alluring bouquet of mint, raspberries, and hints of black currant leaves. On the palate, the tannins are firm and dry, while the fruit exhibits elegance and finesse. Echoes of both fresh and dried tobacco leaves, vibrant berry fruit, and harmoniously integrated oak tannins elevate this wine to a remarkable experience. The finish is long-lasting and pleasantly spiced, crafted from 92% Cabernet Franc and 6% Merlot sourced from a single vineyard.
The grapes were gently pressed and immediately transferred to small French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation began and completed. Components were racked three times to enhance clarification and development. The blend was finalized after 14 months of aging, followed by an additional four months in barrel. The wine was bottled after a total of 22 months. Barrel composition: 13% new 225L French oak.
