In the Black Elephant Vintners Three Men In a Tub Red Blend, Old World stylistics beautifully intertwine with New World dynamics behind a playful label. This engaging blend features classic varietals—including 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and 2% Mourvèdre—sourced from South Africa's coastal vineyards. Drenched in deep aromas of dark berry fruits, the wine reveals intriguing hints of subtle leather, delicate spices, and a backdrop of cocoa. The tannins are wonderfully integrated, leading to a persistently balanced finish that is soft and inviting.
Das handgelesene Traubengut wurde über Nacht im Kühlraum gelagert und am darauffolgenden Tag komplett entrappt und zur Gärung in Tanks aus Edelstahl gefüllt. Nach 3- 4 Tagen setzte die spontane Fermentierung ein, d.h. ausschließlich wilde Hefen, die natürlich auf der Frucht und der Umgebung vorkommen, setzten den Fermentierungsprozess in Gang. Um ein Maximum and Farbe, Geschmack, Aromen und Tanninen aus den Schalen zu extrahieren, wurde der Tresterhut zwei- bis dreimal täglich untergetaucht und der Most per Hand umgerührt. Anschließend ging es in die traditionelle Korbpresse, wo der Wein abgepresst und direkt in ältere Fässer aus französischem Eichenholz gelassen wurde, wo die malolaktische Gärung ihren Abschluss fand und der Wein vor dem Verschneiden und der Abfüllung 19 Monate reifte.
