De Trafford is situated on the beautiful Mont Fleur farm, at the tip of a picturesque valley between Stellenbosch and Somerset West.
De Trafford's award-winning wines vary in taste but all have a distinctive character - intense flavours, fine structure with great length and finesse. All De Trafford wines are produced in a natural way, living wines that can deposit a natural sediment - a healthy sign of handmade wine!
De Trafford's straw wine (Vin Paille) is the first of its kind in South Africa. For the straw wine, Chenin Blanc grapes are dried on wine yards (or straw) in the shade of old oak trees. This gentle raisin process concentrates the sugar, acidity and fruit notes to produce a deliciously rich and sweet dessert wine, which ferments and matures in new French oak. Numerous prestigious awards bear witness to De Trafford's first class quality!
