Vineyard Saronsberg Estate

A modern addition to the traditional heritage of the Tulbagh Valley, Saronsberg was founded in 2002. The climate here is generally continental, with prevailing summer winds blowing through the southern and only opening to the valley. Construction of the state-of-the-art winery was completed in 2004 - just in time for the start of the award-winning Saronsberg maiden vintage.

Saronsberg's award-winning wines are offered in three ranges: "Saronsberg Range", "Provenance Range" and the "Nick & Forti's Range", which together comprise an unbeatably extensive portfolio of varieties such as Shiraz, Grenache, Rhone-style cuvees, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz Rose, Methode Cap Classique, straw wine and wonderfully soft and full-bodied red wine cuvees.

Dewaldt Heyns is responsible for the wine production on Saronsberg. After graduating in cellar technology at "Elsenburg Agricultutal College" in 1995, he was appointed winemaker at the Rust en Vrede winery, where he gained invaluable experience. In 1999, he accepted the position of winemaker at the Avondale Winery, where he had his first opportunity to successfully build and establish a wine farm from scratch. In addition to numerous study trips to international wine regions, Dewaldt was also involved in reading in California and France.

Saronsberg's numerous awards and prizes, as well as top star ratings in South Africa's popular Platter Wine Guide, bear witness to true quality and high "enjoyment potential".
