Red wine from Portugal
Portugal is considered a hidden gem among wine lovers. Portuguese red wines are unique. Indigenous grape varieties not found anywhere else in the world, along with their processing as blends, make them something truly special. Typical blending grapes include the Touriga Nacional, the most commonly grown variety in the Douro Valley, and the Aragonez grape, known as Tinta Roriz in northern Portugal. Only on a small scale are internationally renowned grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot cultivated. However, they are almost always just the "salt and pepper" to round off the local wines. In the art of blending, Portuguese winemakers are true masters. Under their skilled hands, unique and distinctive blends are created, promising new and exciting wine experiences.
