For over 10 years now, Cape Point Vineyards has been producing absolutely first-class wines, with Sauvignon Blanc being of particular importance. Under the talented cellar master and member of the Cape Winemakers Guild, Duncan Savage, unique terroir-specific wines of unmistakable character are produced here on vineyards with extremely treacherous slopes and sites. The award-winning and highly remunerated wine portfolio is divided into two different series, with the Splattered Toad series comprising the entry level wines as Splattered Toad Syrah and Splattered Toad Sauvignon Blanc.

The Cape Point Vineyards range includes a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Chardonnay, as well as stunning wines made from Sauvignon Blanc, which are almost overwhelmed with awards for their first-class quality. For the only winery on the narrow Cape Peninsula, the combination of cool ocean breezes from the Atlantic Ocean (just 1.2 km from the farm's southern slopes) and the south-easterly winds of False Bay create ideal conditions for extremely slow-maturing grapes, which are essential for the creation of great wines. Winemaker Duncan Savage skilfully demonstrates the complex potential of the Sauvignon Blanc grape and delights the palates of true Sauvignon enthusiasts with three different styles of this noble grape variety. The winery is a converted underground mine bunker on the farm, nestled in rock with a view from the terrace that is simply phenomenal. As an absolute pioneer, the winery has catapulted the status of the now officially recognized Cape Peninsula wine region enormously. With their first-class Sauvignon-based white wines, Cape Point Vineyards has secured a firm place among the elite of South Africa's wine industry. The winery is deeply involved in the community with regular markets held on the wine farm and in the rescue and conservation of the native leopard toad. The Splattered Toad wine range is also aimed at this commitment to nature.

Splattered Toad

Splattered Toad is a dynamic and fruity range of wines from Cape Point Vineyards, which is offered under the two wines Splattered Toad Shiraz and Splattered Toad Sauvignon Blanc.

This wonderfully accessible wine range, which has been on the market since 2011, features a fresh label design to raise awareness of the Western Leopard Toad, a legally protected species endemic to Cape Town. Due to increasing urbanization, the habitat and breeding success of the amphibians is endangered.

It is a brave little amphibian that is native to the western part of the Cape. But unfortunately this beautiful creature is threatened with extinction as the unyielding forces of concrete and steel continue to invade its appropriate habitat.

Every year, in the hope of finding a partner, the toad sets out on the busy roads of the Western Cape Province. All too often this journey to the breeding ponds is an expedition of futility, as many never make it to their waiting pets.
