Vineyard Leeuwenkuil Family Vineyards
The farm buildings from the 17th century, restored with great attention to detail, now shine in all their glory once again. The talented team of winemakers, Johann Gerber, Gustav Fouché and Corrien Basson, produce Leeuwenkuils first-class wines here, which are regularly awarded prestigious prizes. The winery's wine portfolio includes the varietal Leeuwenkuil Shiraz and Leeuwenkuil Chenin Blanc, which are also offered in the Heritage series as Leeuwenkuil Heritage Syrah and Leeuwenkuil Heritage Chenin Blanc.
The name Leeuwenkuil ( lion's den) originated in 1800, when the cattle farmers of the region had enormous difficulties to protect their cattle at the waterholes from the hunting lions of the area. At Leeuwenkuil, we have a thoroughly practical approach to wine production. The winery has the great privilege of having its own vineyards in Swartland and Paarl, which produce large quantities of first-class grapes, while leaving viticulture here to nature as much as possible. An approach that is also followed in the winery. The result is something to be proud of!
