The judging system
The jury, which judges and evaluates the participating wines, is made up of international oenologists, wine analysts, specialist retailers, sommeliers, trade journalists and buyers from major retailers. The ratings are based on the international 100-point scale. No wine has yet achieved the coveted 100 points, but every year there are a number of "candidates" that come very close to this dream result and are duly honoured and recognised with a double gold medal.
Mundus Vini medals
| Evaluation background |
|
Silver |
A score of at least 85 points is required for a silver medal. Here too, only the wines with the highest score in this area are awarded a silver medal. This means that the minimum number of points required may well be higher.
Each year, the MUNDUS VINI International Wine Award also presents additional awards and honours. |
| Gold |
A minimum score of 90 points must be achieved to be honoured with "Gold". However, only the wines with the highest score in this area actually receive a gold medal. This means that the score for a medal may well be more than 90 points. |
| Grand Gold - Double Gold |
The Grand Gold or Double Gold award is only given to the crème de la crème of the participating wines. This requires a score of at least 95 points from the international jury. However, only the wines with the highest score in this area actually receive a double gold medal. This means that the score for a medal may well be more than 95 points. |
