DeMorgenzon, the morning sun,
... because the wine estate is situated at the beginning of the Stellenboschkloof Valley and, due to its altitude, can see the rising sun. Not only can it be seen from here, but the ships that docked in Table Bay for provisions were also spotted from this peak.
In 2003, Wendy and Hylton Appelbaum bought the vineyard and transformed it into blossoming mountains among which wine grows.

The philosophy:
To create a biodiverse and ecologically sensitive environment that produces infinitely better grape material.
The winery could be called a mountain winery because of its picturesque location in the middle of various mountain ranges. But it is more of a "garden winery". In spring in particular, countless wildflowers can be found here and under Hylton's green thumb, a breathtaking splendour of flowers thrives.
DeMorgenzon believes in its unique terroir and the special location of the vineyards, which are situated in the Stellenbosch region between 200 m and 400 m above sea level. The vineyard has enormously old and varied soils that are well-drained and have developed from old granite.
DeMorgenzon wants to grow in harmony with nature, restoring the original vegetation in many places and creating a species-rich habitat in the vineyard.
