Vineyard Avondale
Under the oenological guidance of winemaker Corné Marais and winemaker Jonathan Grieve, the award-winning and certified organic wine portfolio is created at the picturesque Avondale wine farm in Paarl, South Africa. The portfolio includes wines such as Avondale La Luna, Anima Chenin Blanc, Camissa Rosé, Samsara Syrah and Armilla Blanc de Blanc MCC.
The 160 hectare farm has been cultivated for more than 300 years and there is historical evidence that the land of the estate was one of the first areas of Paarl specifically created for the cultivation of wine.
"Earth is life" - this is the Avondale motto! All wines here are produced biodynamically and in full harmony with nature. Every step in the production of Avondale's premium wines follows holistic procedures and approaches.
Jonathan Grieve, Avondale's winemaker and business manager, has put his vision of a balanced viticultural ecosystem for the production of organic certified wines into practice and reaps the rewards in the unbeatable quality of the grapes - wines of stunning elegance and unmistakable character are the result!
Of the 160 hectares of land on Avondale, 100 hectares are now cultivated with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Semillon, Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, Mourvedre, Grenache, Viognier, Rousanne and Chardonnay. The entire 100 hectares of cultivated land are certified organic by the Control Union, one of the leading certification bodies in Europe. This enables the accreditation of the German "Bio nach EG-Öko Verordnung", the British "Soil Association" and the USDA certification in the United States of America.
