Swartland wine-growing region - South Africa

Traditionally, the Swartland was an area where mainly wheat was grown.

In summer you can clearly see the green vineyards in this district, stretching up the mountains such as Piketberg, Porterville, Riebeek, Perdeberg and along the mountain river. In the past, bush pruning was mainly used here, but wire frame training is now also widespread. Initially, robust, full-bodied red wines came from the Swartland. Only recently have more quality wines been produced here. First-class wines in the style of the Ports are also produced here. Two districts belong to the district: Malmesbury and Riebeekberg.

Allesverloren, Anthonij Rupert, Mullineux, Great Heart, Sadie Family Wines, Fish Hoek Wines, Spice Route and Swartland Winery are among the best-known wineries in Swartland.

The Swartland district is located in the Coastal Region and is also divided into the sub-regions of Malmesbury, Riebeekberg and St Helena Bay. All these regions are assigned to the Western Cape geographical super-region.
